Watch the Indiana Hoosiers take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in one of IU’s night games under the lights of the newly renovated Memorial Stadium – The Rock!
We’ll meet at Upper Deck Sports Grill in Downtown Scottsdale to cheer on the Hoosiers. We’ve got room for you, your family and other Hoosier fans upstairs with two HD TV’s and sound. We’ll raffle off IU gear and prizes, too. Better yet, if you enjoy Nick’s Sink The Biz, we’ll have two buckets available for play!
There’s a lot of change that’s happening in the Phoenix Chapter of IUAA – be part of it!
Three of our main volunteers – Brad Shaffer (President), Bethany Narkiewicz (Vice-President) and Ryan Madigan (Treasurer) have or are moving out of the Phoenix area. This leaves Barbara McCracken as the only remaining board member in the Phoenix area who routinely volunteers her time and efforts of the 4000+ IU alumni in the Phoenix metro area. Barbara will assume the position of President.
We need your help! Whether you’ve volunteered in the past or considered it, now is the time to reconnect with IU Alumni in the Phoenix area!

Have you wanted to thank a soldier fighting for our freedoms?
Now’s your opportunity! IUAA Phoenix has chosen an IU alumnus to thank for his dedication and efforts in Afghanistan. For security reasons, we can’t release his information online. This IU alumnus has been involved in the armed services since he was a student at IU.
His 30th birthday is in mid-September and we’d like to have a care package full of IU items ready by September 1. This will give us enough time to put a care package together in time for him to receive it by his milestone birthday.
You can donate online right now, securely, via ChipIn and PayPal by clicking on the ‘ChipIn’ button below. Keep your receipt for tax purposes. Your name will be added to the ‘thank you and happy birthday’ card.
Know other IU Alumni that might want to ChipIn? Add a link to your facebook account and give all your IU friends the opportunity to create a special 30th birthday for an IU alumnus who is away from his wife, family and friends on his 30th birthday.
RSVP by emailing iuaaphoenix@alumni.iu.edu with your name and number of people. We are experiencing issues with the online ordering system.

IUAA Phoenix Chapter will hold it’s first virtual board meeting on Tuesday, July 14 at 6:30 PM! It doesn’t matter where you live in the valley – don’t worry about fighting traffic but get involved!
An agenda will be forthcoming and the Board Meeting will be limited to one hour.
Our goals are to:
Create a scholarship committee. We’d like to give a scholarship to a returning student by March 1, 2010. Do you want to head this committee or help out? Join the call!
Create a sporting events committee. This committee will be help plan sporting event watch parties for football and basketball. We’d like to get an alumnus or two from each part of the valley – Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Northwest and Central and have multiple viewing parties at dedicated bars/restaurants in each area. Do you usually watch IU sporting events with friends? Help create a party!
More information will be posted as the board meeting nears. Those interested will simply need to dial a number, listen in and get involved! A computer with internet access is recommended – but not required.
